The Tax Credit Scheme

The Tax Credit Scheme (Danish: Skattekreditordningen) aims to ensure liquidity for Danish companies, enabling them to invest in research and development of new products. The scheme allows companies operating at a loss to receive tax credits for their development costs, thereby boosting innovation and growth among Denmark’s entrepreneurs and growth companies. However, there have recently been challenges with complex controls and ambiguities in defining what qualifies as “new and innovative.” This creates uncertainty for companies that depend on the scheme to continue their growth. A number of companies that have received tax credits have had their status as “new and innovative” revoked for their products, leaving them with significant debt to the government for the received tax credits. This has led several companies to file for bankruptcy.

Danish Tech Startups and GoMore are therefore inviting you to an important panel discussion on the future of the Tax Credit Scheme. The event will take place on October 9, 2024, from 16:00 to 18:00. The debate will focus on the challenges and opportunities for improving the scheme and will feature perspectives from key stakeholders, including politicians, entrepreneurs, and legal experts.

The highlight of the day will be the panel discussion, where tax spokespersons Mohammad Rona from the Moderates, Serdal Benli from the Socialist People’s Party, and Steffen Frølund from the Liberal Alliance will discuss how we can ensure that the scheme supports growth in Denmark without imposing unnecessary burdens on companies. After the debate, there will be time for audience questions and networking.
