Our Mission

Our mission is to build a better future for Danish startups and founders by meeting all their needs and strengthening the framework conditions for startups and tech entrepreneurship in Denmark.

We believe that to build a stronger Danish society, we must support and nurture Danish tech entrepreneurship. Politicians and organizations need to focus on the future and prioritize innovation if Denmark is to compete with global tech giants. At DTS, we are committed to bringing entrepreneurs and companies together to overcome political and economic obstacles. Through our events and networking groups, we unite both young and experienced founders to create value for each other, leverage their strengths, and learn from each other’s failures.

June 19, 2020

50 Tech Entrepreneurs Gathered

In the wake of an unexpected global pandemic, it became clear to tech entrepreneurs in Denmark that no industry organization was specifically advocating for the needs of tech startups. The crisis forced us to unite and collaborate in guiding the government on economic support measures, ensuring that tech startups could continue to grow and innovate in Denmark. In response to this urgent need, over 50 experienced tech entrepreneurs and investors came together in the summer of 2020 to establish the Danish Tech Startup Association (DTS). Read more here

The Political Work Begins

By representing the collective interests of the startup community, DTS has become a crucial player in the political arena, working to ensure that the unique needs of tech startups are recognized and addressed in national policy discussions. Our efforts have not only focused on immediate pandemic-related challenges but also on creating a long-term, sustainable framework that supports the continuous evolution and success of the tech industry in Denmark.

October 28, 2021

First Copenhagen Townhall

A celebration of shared goals and collective aspirations. The First Copenhagen Townhall on October 28th, 2021, was a landmark event for the Danish Tech Startup Association (DTS), symbolizing the power of community within the tech ecosystem. This gathering brought together a diverse group of tech entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers, all united by a common interest in the future of Denmark's tech industry.

October 12, 2022

First Unicorn Academy

On October 13th, 2022, Danish Tech Startups (DTS) launched Unicorn Academy in Aarhus. This quarterly event provides startups with an insider's perspective on the journey to creating a Danish unicorn, straight from the founders. In a cozy and informal atmosphere, industry leaders openly discussed their experiences, shedding light on both the triumphs and difficulties of scaling a startup.

Meeting with Estonia’s Prime Minister Kaja Kallas.

Our political efforts began to bear fruit with support from key individuals. An example of this was when Estonia's Prime Minister Kaja Kallas participated in a morning briefing on innovation with us. Hosted by DTS, this event highlighted the importance of cooperation across the Nordic and Baltic regions.

Folkemødet

In 2023, Danish Tech Startups made its debut at Folkemødet, Denmark's premier political festival. At Folkemødet, DTS engaged in discussions on innovation, entrepreneurship, and the critical role of startups in driving economic growth. Following this, we began participating annually.

Supporting Innovation in Ukraine

Danish Tech Startups started actively working to improve conditions for Danish innovation in Ukraine. We advocate for financial and basic support to enable Danish companies and ukraine themselves to contribute meaningfully to Ukraine's crisis. Innovation is vital in this effort.

This Monday, we had the pleasure of inviting Marie Bjerre to Aalborg to meet some of the city's most visionary tech and AI entrepreneurs. The day included four inspiring visits and engaging debates covering everything from the collaboration between the public sector and startups to visions for the welfare society of the future.
